Free From Before Free To: Late Night Thoughts

I grew up poor but never wanted for anything, so it’s always puzzled me why I feel such gnawing anger and outrage. It hits me now, at age 54, that I got this way not because I was oppressed, although certainly I was in many insidious, barely visible ways. It was because I watched people I cared about and loved being destroyed by the system despite doing everything right. Despite being good people according to the standards of church, state, and society.

Or was it, I now realize, because of adhering to those false standards? Those sucker-bet ideals the sociopaths in charge scoff at with every word and deed are designed to keep the majority of us down, cowed, and happy about our plight.

Think about it. Thou shalt not steal, we are taught. Hell, it’s drilled into us in so many ways the indoctrination is universal. All the while, the ruling class thrives from stealing in every conceivable way. They rape, loot, pillage, and kill at will, in numbers so large no one can grasp them.

We are programmed by church, state, and society to be the underclass. They make us proud to be dupes, all the while laughing their way to the bank and doing anything they wish to their slaves. We are their property. Corporate fascists own us. We are profit units, we are merchandise, and we are kept enslaved by manipulation of debt. What else is poverty but debt manipulation?

We the people? Moo. Baa. Cattle and sheep. Cannon fodder. Useless eaters. Not invited to the bunkers when civilization collapses.

This is what has always depressed and angered me. We need not just a new deal, as FDR called it. We need a whole new fucking game. Our own. One where the house doesn’t always win, own all the game pieces and furniture, and cheats to keep things slanting in its favor.

Rise Up Now: RUN. I say that all the time. Rise Up Now against this tyranny of tradition. New ideas abound; let’s use some of them to step out of their game box. Let’s break our chains and start living cognizant, fulfilling lives, instead of slogging through this hollow caricature, this Hollywood fake existence they’ve forced on us.

Here I sit relying on corporate drugs to keep my body reasonably healthy, just now realizing what’s been hurting all those years. It was not what the systems that use and abuse us did to me, although that is bad enough. It is what it did and does to my loved ones, my friends, and those acquaintances I admire.

Religion murders humanity. Society corrals freedom. Corporate owns it all, unless we stop obeying their insidious lying rules and start claiming what is rightfully ours, including the fruit of our labor, the rightful price of our skills, and the genuine compassion and shared humanity that should be our birthright in what has become a cut-throat rapacious psychopath factory.

We need to be free from, in order to be free to.

I’ve got to get to bed.

Rest well.

There’s way too much to be done and we don’t have much time, ever.
