A Pine Knot’s Sparking Snap

I dipped my rose into your blood
To stain it with our monthly love;

Unfathomable scents entwined
To render us our own intoxicants.

Dispelling qualms, our skin aglow
In ember light, its warmth suffused

With whispers shared, our smiles
In shadows cast by gentle nuzzling

Created joy sustaining all we are.
Our thorns our barbed emboldened bond.

Entranced, embraced, imbued with us,
Our moment’s plangent touch impressed
Our mark on one another’s life as one apart.
