Brief Statement About Self Publishing

If you write only one 90,000-word novel per year, all you have to write is ten or eleven words an hour.

Publishers want only a book a year. They pretend it’s about quality, as if somehow there is a gauge measuring where speed of writing and quality of what’s written intersect. Truth is, some people think quicker, some find a natural tone and can write fluently in a great voice, and some require endless rewrites, agonzing, and pissing around to squeeze out a thin lump of writing. Constipation or logorhea? Well shit, there’s a happy medium and one size does not fit all.

Sounds to me like publishers are a bottleneck.
