A True Crime Evening

IMG_0654

Night predation
Flickers on TV,
British tea
Pleasantly bitter
On the tongue.
Cool air stirs
Patient curtains.
Distant sounds echo.
Dogs bark, engines rev,
Car doors slam,
Words clump for me,
Attempts to catch time.
Moments, impressions,
Sensations, thoughts,
Experiences evanesce.
Breathing calms.
Mind clears from
Drowsy to alert.
Up too late again.
Fast-forward through
Commercial breaks.
Finish the show.
Capture the predators.
Finally get to bed.
Lay back to stare
In a cool dark room.
