Ah, but closer to home is The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale, that mediocre pabulum of warmed-over Ayn Rand-like egoism and magical thinking that has infected so many bathrooms across America. It is one of the keys to grasping Trump’s mentality, such as that term can be applied. It’s a touchstone for what he does.
Peale’s Positive Thinking is pilfered, watered-down, Christianized New Thought from Ralph Waldo Emerson and the Transcendentalists. Consciousness is all, they asserted. Imagination is not make-believe, but make-real. First comes the thought. Interior is Anterior, as the phrase goes. To think it is to conjure it, if you focus and work toward the goal.
Aleister Crowley called it Magick, or Scientific Illuminism.
German Platonic Idealsm is at the root of Transcendentalism. Gone dark, twisted toward personal gain and materialism, it becomes Nazism, as we say in Hitler, as we’re seeing now. Capitalism leads to Fascism because of the zero-sum thinking of tainted esotericism.
If you read the actual esoterica you’ll find no mention of material gain, profit, or a gain in social position. Such considerations weren’t considered. Magick and esoterica are focused on improving and elevating the applicant, the student, the seeker. Making us better human beings.
Quite the inverse is how Nazis apply it, which is why Winston Churchill convened what he called White Magicians to counter Hitler’s Dark ones. You can look it up.

Think it, then act as if it’s true, and it will become true, said Norman Vincent Peale, in a broken, wrong-headed interpretation of actual magick, which states that one must know well one’s self and the world, then focus one’s will, then ACT in the physical world to bring about the physical change in the physical world one desires. Rather a call to hard work, not wishful thinking. Peale did not get that. The book and movie THE SECRET did not get that. Oprah does not get that. No, you can’t have a Mercedes Benz simply by wishing for it, unless your sugar daddy is an Arab Oil Sheik.
Peale was a friend of Daddy Trump, or vice versa, and Donnie Tiny Hands was raised around this claptrap, as well as being dragged with full diapers to Peale’s church. At least two of the trunt’s so-called marriages were officiated at Peale’s church, one by Peale himself. Guess it doesn’t work after all, Dr. Vinnie.

This is a quotation from Dr. Carl Menninger, speaking psychologically. He meant that, when focusing on a neurotic or psychotic’s mental state, the facts in the case may be mundane and even relatively unimportant, but the patient’s stance toward, and reaction to the fact is what matters most.
Fact itself was not in question. Facts exist. Facts just are, it’s your attitude toward them that matters.

This citation, in Menninger’s phrasing, was a favorite of Peale’s, only he misinterpreted it, as he tended to do with all the source material and referents he pilfered. He, and the trunt right along with him, took it to mean facts can be disregarded, and personal attitude substituted for them.
Faking reality is a key Trump move. It’s a key despot, demagogue, tyrant move, too. It’s a key move from malignant narcissists. Psychopathic sadists do this as easily as breathing and torturing.
Then comes chaos. Keeping things confused and blurred so you can do what you want without anyone noticing or, even if they do, being able to figure a way to stop you.
We begin to see the trunt as a chaos magician. We begin to see this all as the manifestation of a long, dark tradition of esoterica being twisted toward fear, hate, greed, and the lust for power.
Chaos Magick came about in London, England in the 1970s, by the way, as a reaction against the stiff, stifling ritual and ceremonial magick of groups such as The Golden Dawn. It parallels Punk music’s reaction against over-produced schlock muzak in favor of personal, raw, powerful expressions of existence.
This form of magick uses the same basic focused will to produce desired results as any esoteric tradition. Sow chaos, then snag what you want or can from it. No rules.
Ah, but technology pounced with the internet, and the new wave of Nazi scum realized they could sow discord and chaos, as well as program and control minds, through postings. Thus was Meme Magick born.
From “Imagine World Peace” to “Imagine World Peas” to “War is Over If You Want It” to… Trump? Well, sure, with a lot of help from demographics engines, algorithms harvesting every known fact about everyone, all the time, and from Putin’s army of hackers and shadow warriors.
We’re now seeing Witches Against Trump, trying to counter Meme Magick from the dark right with bright light from the neo pagan left.

We now see that we are not free, prosperous, or even happy. We see that we have neglected our spiritual light and strength by letting ourselves be distracted by bread and circuses YET AGAIN. Materialism, consumerism, and capitalism, marketing and advertising, all of it swamped us so that we forget to keep being human.
Psychopaths are people-shaped predators. Pesh, call them. People shapes. They are not human beings, and should not be permitted to participate in society. Isolate them from society and let them have their happy crimes among themselves.
Now there are, under the TrumPutin coup, children in concentration camps. The next stage is death camps, and we all know it.
We stand stymied.
Our spiritual lives have been systematically drained. We need an Enlightenment 2.0 after a Terrors II: The Revenge. We need Science to stop being materialist-reductionist, as exploitative corporate has insisted, and for Science to start including humanity and being actually open minded toward potential. Evidence must be empirical AND human.
Humanism can save us, but it means dropping toys and embracing each other. Love is all, All you need is love, Love is the seventh wave, love is the key: Not sex, fucking, and nude images. Love. Love of mankind and love of each person you meet as a distinct, dignified life of its own. No more marginalizing or demonizing or dehumanizing. Those are Trump tactics, Hitlerian, Putinesca Blood Red Sauce.
We need to relax and stop trying to control everything from sex and reproduction to the flow of rivers and other Earth facts. Accept the world as it is and live WITH it. Change what you can accomplish without harm or displacement. Welcome everyone. Make “refugee” a meaningless, useless term. Mankind should mean Kind Man, far better than Homo Sapiens Sapiens, that brain-proud double-downer.
Ponder what roots are revealed in what’s touched on by this essay, then dare to think differently from the many ways you’ve been indoctrinated, schooled, inculcated, coerced, and duped to think in. Dare to think of love, kindness, and helping others at arm’s length.
