Ill-Advised Brief Statement From a Distant Corner

Woodrow Wilson censored the media and put political enemies in jail. Despotic fascism. Ah, but he was low-key and not a blathering lunatic, so we tend to forget. Besides, the fascist right normalizes such extremism.

It was 1953 when Harry S Truman became the first President to defy a Congressional subpoena citing Executive Privilege. Back then, Congress backed down, dropped the matter, and it never came up again … until it did.

There has been a strain of Nazi-based fascism in America all along and it’s currently running an all-or-nothing race of nihilism. If they win, we’re a theocratic fascist dictatorship. If they lose, they’ll burn the country down. They’ve already sold out to Russia.

Question is, what do we do about any of this? We the People, remember? That’s the cornerstone of democracy. We should vote against oligarchic despotism and for democracy.

The Supreme Court has struck down not only Roe v. Wade but the Miranda rights. Entrapment is now legal, cops can lie outright, and anyone accused of a crime is now considered guilty unless proven innocent, and even then it might not matter, if it means impugning a prosecutor’s conviction record.

It’s that no one knows what to do. Surely not the Dems. And no one has access to the billions with which politicians are bought and laws rammed through. Minority rule = tyranny. Doesn’t matter how it’s accomplished.

Feel like a boiled frog? You’re about to lose your legs and guts.
